The concept of Peer2all.com came to me from the Lockergnome newsletters I have received since 1997. Every day, I had an email newsletter from this guy who featured software. In each newsletter, he'd include a paragraph or two about himself or what he was up to, and after a few years, I felt like I knew him. To this day, I've never met him.
It wasn't until my site had been alive for a few months that I even knew that this wasn't a unique thing. People all over the world have shared their blogs (short for weB LOGs) since the birth of the web. It was just new to me.
But Why?
This site is intended for friends and family (and the welcomed visitor) to keep in touch with me and each other. See, the way I see it, there's no one out there with the exception of my parents who would be interested in getting an email of my daily thoughts or what I've been up to. Not only is it hokie, but it's too "spam-ish" and I think people would get sick of it. So, the alternative to a "push" system of news was to let them "pull." See, you're here reading about me, and you did it voluntarily. I didn't throw this on you, nor do you even have to keep reading.
But you're just aching to, right?
It's funny, but that's kind of what I have learned about my readers. I spew out thoughts on a daily basis here and I find that people come back just to see what I'm going to say. No, I'm not being cocky. I try not to get full of myself. Readers who are kind enough to leave me feedback tend to keep me in line. And that's what I love. I love being able to interact with the readers of the site.
Readers post their thoughts in my daily entries, the photo quiz and in the bulletin boards, . The cool thing is sitting back and watching them interact with each other. This site is an enabler. It rocks. So please, kick back and enjoy. Click around. Have a ball, and participate! That's the best way to surf!
