I stayed up late on Sunday night because I knew that Monday was going to be our lazy day in the city of Bangor. Independence Day had brought quite a crowd to Bangor, so we knew it would be best to lay low. We had lunch at a place called Bugaboo Creek, then drove downtown to see the waterfront at Bangor. The citizens there in the late 50's sponsored construction of a 31-foot tall statue of Paul Bunyan. Definitely an attention-getter, Paul stands proudly over the waterfront. My wide-angle lens was able to get a shot of Paul and my parents without having to stand in the middle of Main St., so I was pretty happy about that.

I spotted a parking lot up by the Bangor Auditorium (Bangor...I hardly even know 'er!) and figured it would be a great place to catch some fireworks later in the evening. My folks wanted to lay low the rest of the day, so they dropped me off at the hotel (yay! more homework!) and they went to go read and hit some golf balls. I worked for the next few hours on different projects and even caught a nap. It was a nice, lazy day.

Later that night, we got some pizza and went back to the parking lot I had scouted. It was a guess that the spot would be good for catching the fireworks, but my idea was validated when we got to the lot and the place was swarming with cars. People were outside setting up camping chairs. I knew we had made it. The fireworks started an hour later, and I got some great shots of them from my seat in the van.

That was it for Monday. Pretty lazy day in Bangor.
