I had a heck of a week last week.
Korte Reunion
It started on Thursday, when I headed up to Northern Virginia for a mini family reunion at my parent's place. We couldn't make it up there on Mother's Day, so this was our time to hang out with Mom and Dad. I arrived late Thursday night and went straight to bed.
In the morning, Dad took me and Dan golfing at his course near Ashburn. I had a horrible grip on the clubs, and as such, sent balls whizzing to the right. It got so bad with my slicing that I decided towards the end to just practice my pitching wedge and go back to a driving range at some later date.
Friday night, we went to dinner at Outback with the whole family and had a fun night. On Saturday, Dan Mike and I went to visit with Nana and Papa then went over to RFK stadium to catch a Washington Nationals game.
We didn't have tickets when we arrived and hoped we could pick some up from the box office or from a scalper before the game. The weather looked ominous and I was convinced it was about to pour. A stupid employee of the Nationals walked near us and overheard us interested in getting tickets. She told us the game was sold out. We walked right up to the box office and got tickets. Bitch.
We got some food almost immmediately. The cold food was highly expensive, and (as compared to my San Francisco ballpark experience) lousy. The wind whipped through the stadium seats, but we were still having a good time. The rain started almost immediately. It wasn't a drizzle. It was a torrential downpour. [ movie ]
We waited two hours in the huge thunderstorm and when the sky let up a bit, we darted for the car. On the ride home, we tuned in to a local AM station. To our surprise, despite the inches of rain we got, they decided to play ball. So, for 7 bucks, we got to see an incredible storm. Still an enjoyable time. Watching a storm of that power with a crowd surrounding us was really impressive.
I came back to Richmond on Sunday and then got invited to a beach house in Duck, North Carolina. I worked on my final exam all night here in Richmond, then headed out on Monday afternoon.
