Yesterday, Mike, Dad and I went out to the driving range to see how we'd do. It started slowly for me, but after the first 12 balls or so, I started whacking the ever-lovin' shit out of them. Mike used more of a baseball swing than the traditional, but he started hammering them too. Dad had gone through several lessons and practice ranges, so he was doing a great job.
We were out there in the heat of the sun. It got out to about 104 degrees, and we were there in the dead heat of the Florida afternoon. Not too wise, perhaps. Either way, we had a great time, and once we started connecting with the ball, it got even more fun.
I am sore as hell today though.
We came inside to clean up after that. All three of us were soaking with sweat. Mike left for home shortly after that and Dad and I changed our plans to just stay in the villa for the night and chill out. I did some homework and started working on where I'll be in July.
Recently, I've been flexing and measuring the tensile strength of platinum. My upcoming California trip has required quite a bit of planning and, in many cases, a lot of reservation-making and pre-buying. The credit card is getting quite a flex, and as we know, Platinum is pretty darned sturdy. Good thing too, because I am loading up events out there.
I'm already signed up for an Alcatraz tour, the Broadway version of the Lion King, a S.F. Giants night game (vs. Arizona), a seat at the TV recording of Dennis Miller @ Burbank studios and a seat at the final farewell show of TechTV's "Unscrewed" with Martin Sargent. I want to leave the rest of the trip open for travelling and sightseeing, but some things needed to be pre-booked.
I just got a huge tutorial on the city of San Francisco from a young lady I've been talking with recently. She just got back from a week out there, and told me about all the places I should definitely not miss. I'm doing the same thing with another friend, who is kind enough to put up with me as I ask her everything about Los Angeles. All this personal insight should keep me busy out there, making the most of my time and spending the least amount of money doing it.
Should be a blast.
Today, we're taking it easy @ the villa and will probably go to Downtown Disney for a flick and some food. There will probably be some golfing happening this evening. We'll see if my arms/back/forearms/wrists/knees can hold up from yesterday's golf-releated beatings. ;)
